Candidate should have completed high school or its equivalent from a recognized board, as well as a two-year Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Certificate in Radio and Television, Electronics, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Data Preparation & Computer Software, General Electronics, or Data Entry Operator from a recognized Institute.
Or, The candidate should have completed their intermediate or 12th, or the equivalent, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60 percent in the PCM stream from a recognized board, university, or institution.
Head Constable (Radio Mechanic)
Candidate should have completed high school or its equivalent from a recognized board, as well as two years of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) training in Radio and Television, General Electronics, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Data Preparation & Computer Software, Electrician or Fitter, Info Technology & Electronics System Maintenance, Computer Hardware or Network Technician, Mechatronics or Data Entry Operator.
Or, Candidates must have completed their intermediate or 12th grade in physics, chemistry, and mathematics with a minimum of 60% in PCM from a recognized board, university, or institution.

The following stages are included in the BSF Head Constable (HC), Radio Operator (RO), and Radio Mechanic (RM) Recruitment Process in 2022:
- Written Examination
- Physical Efficiency and Measurement Test (PE&MT)
- Document Verification
- Medical Examination
A screening test will be taken in offline mode at the first level. Shortlisted candidates for Phase II will be those who pass the written exam.
Candidates must complete a Physical Efficiency Test (PET/PST) and submit documents during this round. Only those applicants who pass the paperwork phase will qualify for the PET. Male and female applicants will have different PET parameters.
Phase III requires the Phase II shortlisted candidates to appear. It will start with a descriptive (written) test and end with a dictation test.
Candidates who were provisionally chosen following phase III will now be contacted to schedule a final medical examination. A final merit list will be created based on the results of their thorough medical checkup and their descriptive test scores. Finally, chosen applicants will receive a joining letter.
Exam Pattern for BSF Head Constable Recruitment: Phase I
The phase I written exam, also known as the screening examination, has the following pattern:
There will be a single test conducted for both the HC (RO) and HC (RM) posts.

- Negative marking: For each incorrect response, 0.05 will be deducted.
